Using and Obtaining a Disabled Parking Placard
All disabled parking permits are valid for parking in designated accessible parking spaces, no matter the state or country of origin. Make sure the state or province on the permit matches the license plate of the vehicle or you may be subject to a fine. Your permit allows you to park in the Arizona disability accessible spaces and most metered parking spaces without having to pay. All public parking is free in the Mill Avenue District to vehicles displaying disability plates or a placard. Some private lots may not offer discounts to permit holders.
If you are from out of state or from another country and need a permit, you can obtain a temporary travel placard online at www.azdot.gov/mvd/formsandpub/mvd.asp. Type in form number 96-0104. You can also call 602/255-0072 or TTY: 602/712-3222.
Most other states and Canadian provinces honor Arizona disability plates and placards, However it is a good idea to contact the appropriate motor vehicle authorities when traveling outside Arizona.
